Baptism

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Matthew 3:13-17
Jesus was baptized not because He was a sinner, but to show us by living example that we to should be baptized.

We believe in baptism by immersion, at an age when one is capable of understanding the salvation of Jesus Christ in their lives.

We understand that baptism is not necessary for salvation since Jesus said to the thief on the cross in Luke 23:43 "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." Since Jesus told the thief that today He would be with him in paradise, he did not have to be water baptized for salvation. However, we should be baptized since Jesus was as the example to us. It is a public confession of an inward change of salvation in our lives. The old man is dead and washed away and the new man comes out of the water showing all a public submission to our Lord and Savior.
